Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026This policy explains what personal information Shortlist Lane ("we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the rights you have. If you have any questions, email [email protected].
Who we are
Shortlist Lane is a UK-based, human-led CV writing service. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the "data controller" for the information described below.
What we collect
- Information you give us — when you request a free CV review or buy a package, we collect your name, email address, the role or sector you're targeting, your career level, any link to or copy of your CV, and anything else you choose to share with us.
- Payment information — payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not see or store your card details.
- Usage information — if you agree to analytics or advertising cookies, we collect limited information about how you use the site (see our Cookie Policy).
How we use your information
- To carry out your free review or deliver the service you've bought, and to communicate with you about it.
- To process your payment.
- To respond to your enquiries and provide support.
- To improve our website and, where you've consented, to measure our advertising.
Our lawful bases
We rely on: performance of a contract (and steps taken at your request before entering one) to provide the review and service; our legitimate interests in running and improving the business; and your consent for any non-essential cookies and marketing.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted providers to run the service, and share only what's necessary: Stripe (payments), Google Workspace (our email), Web3Forms (delivery of your enquiry to our inbox), Cloudflare (website hosting), and, where enabled with your consent, Google (analytics and advertising). We do not sell your personal information.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as we need it to deliver your service and meet our legal and accounting obligations, after which we delete or anonymise it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your information, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
International transfers
Some of our providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on the appropriate safeguards required by UK data protection law.
